Steak in a Black Garlic and Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients: (Serves 2-4)
- 2 sirloin steaks
- 6 tbsp grapeseed oil
- 1 lbs wild mushrooms (cremini, shiitake, porcini, portobello)
- 2 large shallots, chopped
- ¼ c red wine
- 1 tbs fresh thyme
- 3 cloves peeled black garlic, chopped
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter or margarine
- freshly ground salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Pat steaks dry and rub with salt and pepper. Heat 1tbs oil in a heavy skillet on high heat. Place steaks onto skillet and flip once (about 4 minutes each side for medium-rare). Transfer to a plate and cover with foil. Using the same pan, saute shallots until translucent (30 seconds) then add butter, mushrooms, and black garlic- cook for about 5 minutes, stirring often. Add thyme and wine until there is minimal liquid left, (about 3 minutes). Serve the sauce over the steak, and season to your liking- Enjoy!
